We don't lay turf. We price it.
MowFree exists to answer one question: what does artificial turf actually cost, by the square foot, before an installer quotes you?
The problem we fix
Search "artificial turf cost" and most of the first page is installers, turf retailers, and lead-matching services. A lot of those pages end the same way: "get a free quote." That's not a price, it's a lead form. You're left guessing whether $9 a square foot is a steal or a rip-off, with no neutral number to check the bid against.
We take no turf orders and book no installs, so we have no bid riding on the number. When we say a normal backyard runs $12 to $15 per square foot installed, that figure comes from published cost data, cited at the bottom of the page, not from a job we're trying to win.
How we price things
All 22 cost pages list their sources at the bottom, each with the date it was checked. Right now that date is July 2026 across the site. Turf and labor prices move, so those figures go stale; when we re-check them, the date on the page changes with them. Where sources disagree, we give the range and say so rather than pick a number that looks tidy. If a figure can't be verified, we say "confirm with a local supplier" instead of inventing one.
Our estimates are planning numbers, not quotes. Turf pricing depends on your region, yard, and season, so the firm figure comes from a local installer. What this site does is make sure you walk in knowing roughly what it should be.
How MowFree makes money
Every cost page carries a short list of turf materials on Amazon, and we earn a commission when a reader buys through one, at no extra cost to them. That is the site's only income today. Those links are markedsponsored and the tracking tag is visible in the URL. They're for materials, not installs: nobody pays us for a lead or a booked job, and we don't take a cut of a bid.
Worth being plain about what those links are. They're searches, not product picks: each one runs an Amazon search for a spec we describe, and we haven't bought or tested what comes back. The published price ranges come from the cited sources, cost indices and supplier pages, not from the listings we earn on. The full breakdown is on ourdisclosure page.

MowFree is published under one masthead, The MowFree Team, rather than a personal byline. The credibility here is meant to come from the sources cited on each page and the dates on them, which you can click and check, rather than from a name you'd have to take on faith. If a number here is wrong, tell us.
